Let's say that the consumption on your bill is 10,150 gallons.
To begin to calculate the charges for this usage, we must first break
the consumption down by rate category. This is especially important when
calculating consumption over different Rate Tiers.
Look at the table on the left. As you can see, the fist 12,600 gallons of water are
at a rate of $1.34 per 1000 gallons plus a monthly base charge for water.
The next 12,600 gallons are at a rate of $2.68 per 1000 gallons used.
Knowing that the total monthly consumption of 10,150 gallons is below
where the first pricing tier stops (in the table on the left the first
pricing tier goes up to and includes consumption of 12,600 gallons) we
now know how much consumption,(10,150) will be at the
rate of $1.34.
10,150 gallons @ $1.34.....Water
$13.60
Rate cap @ 9,875 gallons @ $1.34.....Sewer $13.23
Water base charge
$13.86
Sewer base charge
$ 8.65
Coral Springs city tax (10% of water chg)
$ 2.75
TOTAL
BILL
$52.09
Now, that was fairly easy...but what if the consumption is
higher than that allowed in Tier One? For the next example,
let's use 21,780 gallons and see how it calculates. Please refer to the
color coordinated chart at left.
Water
Rates..............................................
0-12600 gallons
$1.34 per 1000 gallons
12,600 - 25,200 gallons $2.68 per
1000 gallons
Let's look at the rates again.........
Water Tier1 extension (purple)...12600x $1.34= $16.88
Water Tier 2 extension (orange)..9180 x $2.68= $24.60
Sewer Tier 1 extension (purple)...(9875
sewer cap) x $1.34=
$13.23
Total consumption is (12600 + 9180)= 21,780
Total consumption $$ for water
is $41.48
Total consumption $$ for sewer
is $13.23
Let's
total up this bill for 21,780 gallons of consumption.
